Released on 9th September, 2026

Patch release. Adds 22 new blog layouts, 6 new team layouts, a new Reveal Box element, and 3 new Niche Demos. No framework, dependency, or breaking changes, so 8.0.x projects can drop these in without retesting.

New Blog Layouts

• Longread single post (blog-single-longread.html) - a measure-capped 42rem column with drop cap, pull quote, full-bleed figure, and a sticky share rail.
• Table of Contents single post (blog-single-toc.html) - an auto-generated sticky table of contents with scrollspy, for tutorials and documentation.
• Immersive single post (blog-single-immersive.html) - a full-bleed hero with the title over the image and a sticky meta bar.
• Photo Essay single post (blog-single-photo-essay.html) - alternating full-bleed and paired figures with captions and lightbox.
• Interview single post (blog-single-interview.html) - question and answer speaker markers with an interviewee panel.
• Newsletter Issue single post (blog-single-newsletter-issue.html) - a numbered masthead, sectioned items, and issue navigation.
• Magazine listing (blog-magazine.html) - a lead story plus secondary features with Latest, Editor's Picks, and Most Read rails.
• Overlay Cards listing (blog-cards-overlay.html) - gradient-scrim overlay cards with a hover zoom.
• Mixed Feed listing (blog-mixed-feed.html) - a repeating one-large, two-medium, three-small rhythm.
• Split Screen listing (blog-list-split.html) - a sticky image pane that swaps as the post list scrolls.
• Load More listing (blog-load-more.html) - batched reveals with a running count and an end-of-results state.
• Archive page types: Category (blog-category.html), Author (blog-author.html), Tag (blog-tag.html), Search Results (blog-search-results.html), and Archive (blog-archive.html). None of these existed before.
• Reusable blog blocks: table of contents (block-blog-toc.html), reading progress (block-blog-progress.html), related posts (block-blog-related.html), author card (block-blog-author-card.html), inline newsletter (block-blog-newsletter-inline.html), and featured hero (block-blog-featured-hero.html).
• Blog JavaScript (js/blog.js) - a dependency-free module powering reading progress, table-of-contents generation with scrollspy, split-feed image swapping, batched load more, runtime share links, and reading-time estimation. Every feature no-ops when its markup is absent.

New Team Layouts

• Six new team layouts in team.html, which now showcases twelve in total: Hover-Reveal Bio, Tabbed by Department, Sticky Spotlight with scrolling roster, Pull-Quote Leader Block, Stats Row, and Parallax / Stacked Cards.

New Element

• Reveal Box (reveal-box.html) - six hover, focus, and tap reveal styles: slide up, curtain, icon swap, side wipe, accordion, and list. Keyboard accessible with tab focus, Enter and Space to toggle, Escape to close, and aria-expanded state. Falls back to tap-to-toggle on touch devices and disables every transition under prefers-reduced-motion.

New Demos

• Pest Control (demo-pest-control.html) - a certified local pest control firm with same-day service, a pests-we-treat grid, pricing guide, accreditations, service area, and reviews.
• Honey Subscription (demo-honey-subscription.html) - a raw honey subscription with a how-it-works explainer, tiers, producer profiles, tasting notes, gifting, and an FAQ.
• Bubble Tea (demo-bubble-tea.html) - an artisan bubble tea and tea shop with a full menu, drink customization, loyalty programme, tea origins, catering, and franchise enquiries.

Updated

• The Blog mega-menu now carries the new layouts in a Modern group (Magazine, Overlay Cards, Mixed Feed, Split Screen), a Single - Editorial group for the six new single layouts, an Archives group, and Load More under Item Splitting.
• New blog sections in sass/_blog.scss with variables in sass/_variables.scss, built on the --cnvs-contrast-* scale so every component inverts correctly in dark mode.
• Team layout modifiers in sass/shortcodes/_team.scss reuse the existing --cnvs-team-* custom properties, and all responsive overrides use the Bootstrap 5 media-breakpoint-down() mixins.
• Reveal Box styles live in sass/shortcodes/_revealbox.scss with $revealbox-* variables, and its behaviour is a standard Canvas module at js/modules/revealbox.js.
• Registered the new niche demos in index.html and niche-demos.html with preview thumbnails, filter categories, and links.

• Canvas 8.0.4 to 8.0.5 (patch): version bump across style.scss, style.css, style-rtl.css, package.json, package-lock.json.
